Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What glue or adhesive does ProMAG® suggest for different magnet products/applications?
A. We now offer two different Loctite® glues (AFG-40104 and AFG-51387) for sale on the website which have been tested on the ProMAG® magnets (flexible, ceramic, and neodymium rare earth) and on a variety of surfaces. IMPORTANT: We suggest that you store adhesives at a normal temperature inside a store or house (50°F-80°F). Refrigeration will typically extend the shelf life of adhesives and is recommended for long term storage over 6 months.

Q. Are ProMAG® magnets safe for children?
A. Testing shows that ProMAG® flexible magnetic materials meet child safety standards. Email us at promag@promagproducts.com or call 1-877-460-8375 for more information. EXCEPTION: Neodymium super strong and ceramic extra strong magnets are not safe for children due to the strength. If these strong magnets are swallowed, the attraction of the magnets inside the body may cause serious injury and require immediate medical care. Please read the full disclaimer on back of the packaging.

Q. Do ProMAG® magnets contain lead?
A. Testing shows that ProMAG® flexible magnets meet child safety standards which test for lead content. Email us at promag@promagproducts.com or call 1-877-460-8375 for more information

Q. How strong are ProMAG® magnets?
A. The strength varies depending upon which magnet you select. Please email promag@promagproducts.com or call 1-877-460-8375 to obtain strength information for a specific magnet.

Q. Are ProMAG® magnets safe around my pacemaker?
A. Please consult your physician if you have questions regarding how your pacemaker or other implanted medical device will perform when near magnets or magnetic fields.

Q. Can you cut ProMAG® magnets?
A. ProMAG® flexible magnetic material can be easily cut with scissors, knives or cutters such as scrapbooking machines. Some cutters/scrapbooking machines on the market offer special blades for magnetic material.

Q. Will ProMAG® magnets harm my appliances?
A. No. ProMAG® magnets will not harm appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves or ovens.

Q. Which type of magnet is the strongest?
A. The strongest permanent magnets on earth are Neodymium magnets.

Q. Can I order from ProMAG® direct instead of online?
A. Customers who wish to purchase in bulk or wholesale quantities (multiple cases) may email us at promag@promagproducts.com or call 1-877-460-8375 for more information.

Q. Can I print on ProMAG® Color-A-MAG® magnet?
A. Color-A-MAG® AFG-12201 magnet is inkjet printable. Choose the paper setting. Tip: Allow the magnet to flatten out for several hours before printing by placing the magnet on a metal surface.

Q. Do you offer print templates for ProMAG® inkjet printable sheets?
A. Please refer to our Printing Instructions for template options. Tip: Always test print using a sheet of plain paper to check the alignment of the print with the magnetic sheet. Slight adjustments to the layout may be necessary.

Q. Will ProMAG® magnetic sheets work on my laser printer?
A. ProMAG® does not currently offer magnetic material for laser printers. ProMAG magnet should be applied after printing due to concerns with the heat and time involved to process through such a printer. ProMAG offers Adhes-A-MAG™ magnetic adhesive sheets AFG-12382, AFG-13346, and AFG-13360 for just such a purpose. Simply peel the release liner from the magnet and apply your printed sheet.

Q. What thickness of magnetic sheeting do you suggest for vehicle signage?
A. .030” thick standard energy magnetic sheeting is suggested for vehicle signage due to its holding strength. Thinner magnetic material may not provide adequate strength to hold signs in place at highway speeds.

Q. How should I clean and care for magnetic material used outdoor?
A. It is particularly important to clean magnetic material used outdoor. To guard against moisture and dirt buildup between the magnet and the metal surface, remove the magnet at regular intervals. Clean both the magnet and the metal surface with mild detergent; wipe with a soft cloth or allow to air dry. For vehicle-mounted signs, remove and clean daily.
